Background
A postdoctoral visitor is sought for Dr Fox’s Program of Research on healthcare for an aging population. The postdoctoral visitor will participate in large provincial survey of hospital nurses’ opinions on their working conditions and resources, the care they provide to older people, their roles, and working relationships. The postdoctoral visitor will be provided opportunities to also participate in a project on hospital-to-home transitional care. This position provides the opportunity to work with a vibrant team of researchers with expertise in health services, statistics, and aging research. The team is committed to building capacity in aging and health services research.
Overall Purpose of Postdoctoral Position
As a researcher affiliated with Dr Fox’s program of research and with the guidance of the principal investigator and project team members, and within the bounds of the research project mandate, the Postdoctoral Fellow will participate in research and related scholarly activities. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be provided opportunities to participate in York University Centre for Aging Research & Education.
Key Responsibilities
  • Managing and analyzing survey data
  •  Assisting in management of all research activities
  • Carrying out literature reviews where applicable
  • Attending research team meetings at York University
  • Assisting with or leading the preparation of publications
  • Assist in preparing a final report for funding body
  • Assisting in the preparation of research proposals
  • Other related activities at the discretion of the PI
Skills and Qualifications
Educational Qualifications Applicants must have completed all requirements for a PhD. The ideal candidate has:

  •  Graduate training in a health, social, or related discipline
  •  Evidence of writing for publication
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Knowledge of, and prior experience with SPSS or SAS
  •  A high level of motivation, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Excellent administrative, time management, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Terms and Conditions
This postdoctoral position will be 6-months in length with full time hours.
